About Rissho Kosei-kai Buddhism
Rissho Kosei-kai was founded in 1938 in Tokyo Japan by Nikkyo Niwano and Myoko Naganuma. They saw the need for a Buddhist practice that would combine traditional teaching with everyday application to help a modern and expanding world find peace, harmony, and happiness.
Our study and practices are based on the teachings of Ekayana (One Vehicle) Buddhism. This combination of core Buddhist teachings and the wisdom found in the Threefold Lotus Sutra, guides the members in their daily lives, helping them develop spiritual maturity and produces a very fulfilling life.
Rissho Kosei-Kai has 1.8 million members and 250 centers worldwide.
RKINA
Rissho Kosei-kai International of North America (RKINA) is the Rissho Kosei-kai's regional center for North America. RKINA was founded in 2008 in Irvine, Orange County, California, to help support Dharma development in the United States.
RK Dharma Center of Orange County
As a result of the services and study sessions provided by RKINA, a Sangha of individuals located in the Orange County area was formed, and regular Dharma activities were started. These buddhist practices for the local community are aside from RKINA’s nationwide mission, and are conducted in the framework of the Rissho Kosei-kai Dharma Center of Orange County (RKOC). RKOC currently shares the same office space as the RKINA in Irvine.
